I sold Aston Martins.

Pressing the engine start button in an Aston Martin isn't designed to feel ordinary — it is a small ritual. The sound the door makes when it closes. The stitching on the steering wheel that nobody but the driver will ever touch. Understated elegance that speaks only to the person inside it.
Then I left to have my children. When they were older, I built a dog walking business. I walked through the homes of women who had taste in everything — Aesop on the counter, Le Labo in the wardrobe — and watched every one of them reach for a crinkly green roll tucked somewhere out of sight.
They were embarrassed by it. I noticed.
